my first clinical experience essay

1/13/ · This journal reflects my first clinical experience at the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre. The experience has made me re-examine and analyze a lot about my path towards reaching my goal and becoming an RN. I felt that being able to touch and feel the working environment is extremely important for a future nurse and indeed for any health care provider My first clinical experience was at St. Vincent hospital on a geriatric unit, when I was a second year nursing student. During my time there, nurses often approached me to provide small learning experiences and teach students how to be efficient. When a nurse on the unit asked for help with a bed bath for a patient with whom I was not familiar, I My Clinical Experience. During my first day of clinical, I encountered an issue that I believe is very significant. As a student nurse, our duty for this day was to follow our health care aide around the ward and assist in completing resident care. The resident required assistance in many of her daily tasks

I wanted to obtain the trust of my patient so I could help my patient feel better about themselves and just feel like a healthier person. My patient had many issues with being surrounded by judgmental people and she believed I was just another person to judge her until I established the trust that was needed for her to allow me to proceed in the cares needed.

I do not personally believe that any other form of therapeutic communication would have helped as much as this one did in the particular scenario. In the end it is unprofessional for staff to judge a patient based on health issues. As a nurse we are to develop high ethics and respect for the patients. As nurses, my first clinical experience essay, we always want what is best for our patient, but we must understand that our safety is extremely important as well.

This was one thing our group agreed is easy to forget as my first clinical experience essay nurse. The trauma nurse and team had to ensure everything was done to save the patient despite the fact that the patient had the intention of hurting others. I benefited in this situation, because it made me put my feelings aside and focused on resuscitating the patient, unfortunately the patient did not make it, but this was my first encounter with an ethical dilemma.

My preceptor told me my first clinical experience essay within the lines of there will always be bad people, but we are their nurse and it is our obligation to do everything for our patients. She said my first clinical experience essay with the years of experience you tend to see the same things over and over again and that she was able to somewhat anticipate what the doctor would yell out next.

Only the patient would know what they my first clinical experience essay quality of life, or the quantity of life. Death is sometimes sought after due to the fact that some patients do not want to live with suffering and pain.

In this situation, death can be seen as the least harmful of the two. To solidify the confidence of trust in nurses, the authors brought up statistics show that physicians who assist in death would still be deemed trustworthy, therefore nurses would be trusted and respected just as much as the physician.

A reason may be that nurses are trusted to take care of their patients to the best of their ability and to care for them. I relate to myself when taking care of my patients, even though some patients and families can be very trialing, we have to think what if that was our mom or dad, child, or friend? I would want the best care for them and we need to remember this when it comes to taking care of our patients.

In my definition of, environment is not only the physical environment but the social environment as well. We have to create a good environment for proper healing, many do not think a nurse has effect on the environment but they can effect it in many ways. Health is based off the person as a whole and ability to perform…. A Duty to Care: The Role of a Nurse in Circumstances of Patient Nonadherence Health care professionals are all too often aware of the lifestyle choices that have led the patient to seek treatment in their care.

However, the implications of these lifestyle choices and issues that can arise from nonadherence are often downplayed or simply disregarded by the patients despite the urgency of the matter being expressed by the health care professionals.

In other words, sometimes, my first clinical experience essay, the patients refuse to alter their lifestyle for the preservation of their own health, my first clinical experience essay. This can be frustrating, to say the very least, but it does not, under any circumstances, dismiss the health care professionals from their duty of care Laken, In fact, it is in….

As a patient advocate, I will explain to the family the importance of the patient hearing this report confirmed by a doctor and not withholding any of the details. Family may argue that sharing this information may result in further emotional and physical stress. However, I believe that the sooner this information is shared with the patient, my first clinical experience essay, the sooner we can start the process of dealing with the added stress.

As nurses, we were responsible for finding out the correct information and making sure it was communicated my first clinical experience essay with everyone.

This should not be done in order to change the plan of care, but to ensure that everyone has the necessary information to make sure the best decision is made for the patient. This is an experience that I will never forget, and it reminds me as I grow as a nurse to always gather all of the information and communicate it effectively, and most importantly to advocate for your patients.
